initial phase yellow stripe coris - 23.jan.07

This rather boring black and white fish was yesterday's catch of the day. I had never seen this fish before. I was happy to get a picture of it. Had to do some research to determine what it was. It is a kind of wrasse and this is the initial - female stage. Some of the females switch into males. I have never seen the mature/male phase. Will look for one.

Still battling the sinus infection. I might as well assume that I am getting better.

Did laundry, went to library, went swimming. And, tweaked my investments. Added to my Cisco position. They have a bunch of cash and some fine products. Its not just routers any more. And the CEO is from West Virginia.

What matters. A couple of weeks ago, Carlton and I were watching The News Hour (you can take us out of DC, but we take our wonky habits with us). A little crawl comes on the tv assuring us that at tsunami would be arriving in about 6 hours. We figure that we would have to evacuate. I immediately plug in all the batteries. Cell, iPod, camera, computer. And, since I had an expensive chunk of fish in the fridge, I started dinner. Then I said - well, we'll pack up the canned tuna, a can opener, take some pillows, a couple of blankets, a few warm clothes, all our money, credit cards and the aforementioned battery operated devices, and move (in the car) up to the hill a couple of blocks. That was my idea. Carlton's idea was to pack up our suitcase like we were leaving. I pointed out that if our valuable stuff - as in - ragged underwear, seen better days shorts, stained T-shirts, bathing suits with no elastic - were actually washed away - IT WOULDN'T MATTER. And, the airport would be under water too. So, we had best position ourselves to survive - not to go to the airport. I don't know which idea would have won out - because by the time we finished dinner - they decided that there would indeed be a tsunami - but it would only be 2 inches. So, not too worry.
