Safely back home in exciting downtown Arlington. Got back into the apartment before noon yesterday.
One of the first things I did was put on suitable clothes. GOODNEWS - the black jeans still fit!
I have not been outside. Not even onto the porch. The freezer was stocked with food from Trader Joe's. The kid left beer, chocolate and good bread in the fridge and freezer. Brought coffee back from Kona. No reason to go out. Maybe tomorrow. Maybe not.
About Daylight Savings Time. What a crock! It might have made sense during WW-I when they first thought Daylight Savings Time up. My guess is that in 1916 - most folks use of "energy" was the electric or gas lights. So, if they could wait until later in the evening to turn on the light - all to the good. Well, unless they had to turn a light on in the morning. Maybe it wasn't such a hot idea then either. BUT, does my dishwasher use less energy because of DST? How about the fridge? Or the coffee maker? Or the computers? And TVs? And don't these contraptions use lots more energy than my florescent light bulbs? It is just another feel-good useless government program.
NOTE TO HEIRS: Don't expect to come clean out my apartment after I have died and go directly to Antiques Roadshow. Every time I come back after being away - I go into "We have entirely too much crap around here" mode and stuff starts getting taken to the trash room. Of course, then there is Carlton - He makes daily trips to the trash room. That is where he does his shopping.
