It is IRS time of year again. Carlton got his annual
missive from the IRS asking to see his ass or rather supporting data.
As a result, once again, I am trying to understand how to compute the adjusted
basis of tax-exempt bonds and OID calculations. This morning I stood in the
living room and announced that "My name is Peggy and I am powerless over Schedule
D". So is my tax software. So is every tax software that I downloaded or tested
out on line. So, if we must calculate the basis of our bond portfolio "correctly"
well then we are going to hire a CPA. But, at least I'll know if the CPA has
a clue.
On to more interesting things. Computers. I am thinking more and more about a Mac. There is a PC that I like. It is a Toshiba Portage It costs a bunch. And, it is a little wimpy to run Vista nicely. I am sure that by this time next year Service Pack 1 will be out for Vista and this sweet little machine will be beefier. But, this is now. I WANT NEW TOYS NOW.
And, Macs are sexy machines. The Mac OS doesn't seem to be a flakey as Windows. There is an Apple store just down the road. I can walk there. One problem is that when PC people switch to Macs they frequently become insufferable - like born again christians or reformed smokers.
