the mystery fish
juvenile big eyed scad
I found out what these fish are - juvenile big eyed scad. Full grown scad are called akule in Hawaii and these juveniles are called halalu. From June to November schools of halalu come into shallow waters where fresh water comes into the ocean. Everyone seems happy that the halalu made a late visit this year.
Xmass wrasse sighted today. Two of them actually, but they got away unphotographed.
