Did not go to the Captain Cook Monument – either by foot or by boat.
Had some great tuna steaks today. Along with avocado and tomatoes. Dinner will be yakisoba noodles and something that I find in the fridge.
Trying to watch curling. Seems to me that curling is a sport best enjoyed with vast amounts of alcoholic beverages. I don’t have any alcoholic beverages on hand.
Going home depression is being helped by thinking about going to Japan.
Shark with pad Thai sauce and cone sushi today for lunch. And a whole bunch of real 100% Kona Coffee.
Noticed that the “conservative convention” or what ever it is named Ron Paul as their choice for president in a straw vote. Things are getting stranger and stranger… May you live in interesting times. BTW – Confucius didn’t say that. I think John Kennedy did and mis-attributed the saying to the Chinese.
Go to the Seychelles islands while I know the ambassador
See the “May Day” parade in Moscow
Take the train across Australia
Check out Dubai or Qatar
Motor around the Marquesas Islands on the Aranui
etc
It was chilly here today – so we had chili with rice underneath and avocado, sour cream and salsa on top.
iPod note to self: The first time you fire up Music after you copy new tunes from the computer – the iPod wants to “organize” the library or some such thing. LET IT FINISH. If you don’t let it finish – it iPod will insist that it has no tunes to play. The only thing to do seems to be to reconnect the Pod to the computer and make some change to the iPod’s library – it is still there on the iPod. Disconnect the iPod, fire up Music again and this time LET IT FINISH organizing.
No picture today – still feeling too smug about getting a decade of images culled and cataloged to go out and make more.
Going to have lists for the next couple of days.
What I did this winter:
Culled and cataloged a decade of images.
Learned to like Lightroom.
Vastly improved my open ocean swimming confidence (which might not be a good thing).
Discovered that doing all the domestic chores every week – just like at home – makes the rest of the week work better. So, on Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday – every week – I did laundry and defrosted the fridge and restocked the pantry.
Had albacore tuna – with lemon pepper sauce, rice, tomatoes and avocado for lunch. Ono grinds – as we say local-speak.
Microwave egg trick – It works for me. Put a slice of bread in a bowl. Add a little milk or cream to mush up the bread. Break an egg on top. Punch some holes in the yoke. Top with salsa. Cover. Nuke 2 minutes. It makes a nice alternative to peanut butter sandwich or oatmeal – which have been the major breakfast food this winter.
I thought that Carlton was at his volunteer job – but when I got to the showers after my swim – I found the shower occupied by Carlton. Some days you just can not get away from Carlton.
Watched some of the Olympic Biathlon on TV this afternoon. What’s not to love. Shooting and skiing. Why isn’t it popular in america? I guess that shooting at targets is too tame for us red-blooded americans.
Also watched some of the Westminister Dog Show. Decided that if I were a dog, I would be a member of the “Non-Sporting Group”. Of course, I would never be a thoroughbred anything. I would be a mutt.
Only two more weeks here in our winter camp. Unfortunately, I think that winter will still be going strong back in Arlington when we get back.
Good news. I think I have finished culling and cataloging all the images that I brought with me. I noticed a couple of areas of missing images. Hopefully they are back home on one of many CD/DVDs. But, I am feeling very organized. And promise to stay that way. Now, the final release of Lightroom 3.0 must work with the my LR 3.0 beta catalog.
Spam musubi for lunch today. Cone sushi and chicken katsu on tap for dinner. With avocados. I made “lemonade” with some of my very sour oranges. As I mentioned earlier – we are eating our favorite local foods for the next two weeks. I never cook local food in Arlington – it just isn’t the same.
To save money – the state of Hawai’i doesn’t hold school on Fridays. Friday is called “Furlough Friday”. Now, isn’t that a fine way to save money? Hawaii’s economy is really in the tank.
One of my favorite things – The Dodo Mortuary. I especially like that it is next door to the hospital. And, if you end up in our hospital – you might need the services of a mortuary.
Now, I wonder – is there a cemetery in Dinosaur Colorado? And if there is – is it called the Dinosaur Graveyard?
Not sorry to be missing the monster snows in the east. Note to weather goddess: Three weeks from now – I need all the snow/wind/ice/sleet winter stuff needs to be gone.
I am stuck in my 2002 photos. In honor of the Saints Superbowl win – the picture of the Treme Brass Band as it makes it’s way out of a saloon… Summer 2002 – Lowell MA
Three weeks from today we will be starting our 24 hour trek back to the east coast. Not a good thing. If the weather is still evil I’ll be calling Delta saying “Delta, I am not ready when you are…”
The food fairy “blessed” us with lots of oranges that seemed to have had lemons in their family tree. Not sure what to do with them except make orangie lemonade or would it be lemony orangeade?
