Chores 2Day

Power Dog

This little bitch is the most energetic dog on the planet. She cheerfully powers her master’s skate board all over the village. She also does Frisbee in and out of the water. And dives off the pier and seawall. Her owner doesn’t swim much (you can not swim and smoke dope at the same time) so she doesn’t do long distance swimming. But, she’ll chase a ball in or out of the water as far as you can throw it. If you don’t throw the ball – she’ll toss it in the surf and chase it.

As for me, I did chores today. But, it was nice and warm. Better than doing chores in freezing cold.

Another Day of Too Much Computer Time

Palace Still Life

Worked on my new Palace web page today. And tweaked some recipes for the Palace cookbook.

Too much time behind the Airness.

Our big surf contest didn’t get off today. So, all the invitees will return to where ever they came from until the next time. 2 dozen or so guys get invited to attend. And, they are on “alert” from Dec 1 until Feb 28. When the conditions look right – they all hop on planes and go to Oahu. If it doesn’t happen – they leave. Only to hop on a plane next time a big swell is expected.

The Witch Will Not Die…

I am so not you ...

According to the NY Times, our favorite witch has formed a political action committee. Guess that is easier than getting a real job. Even a job on FoxNews.

Time for me to step away from the computer. Spent all day working on my new improved web site for the Palace where Carlton volunteers. I owe them. They keep Carlton busy four days a week. huliheepalace.net It is all done with “Google Sites”.

Beach Dogs

Kona Dogs - Swimming Lessons for Puppies

In Hawai’i, your dogs need to learn how to behave at the beach. Puppies are introduced to the ocean with the same loving patience that is extended to young children.

Everyone is hoping that our most favorite surf contest – The Quiksilver AKA The Eddie – will be run on Thursday. It only runs if the waves are over 20 feet. It is always held on the North Shore of Oahu. And, most years – it doesn’t happen. Check it out: http://theeddie.quiksilver.com/home.en.html

Some Big Waves

Waves along Ali`i Drive and the Old Hilton

Had a sweet day off today. No domestic chores. No hunter gathering.

We had meatballs, cauliflower and rice for lunch. And, we’ll be having leftover salad type stuff and deviled eggs for dinner.

I am sorry for Steve Jobs. (And, Paul Allen). Because, without good health – you have nothing.

Hula Today

Hula Hula

Hula concert this afternoon. And, dinner after. So, the cook had the evening off.

Speaking of off, the barge got off the rocks at high tide last night. And, it was back at anchor in the bay this morning.

All is well in exciting downtown Kailua.

High School Canoe Races Today

High School Canoe Races

Big morning of high school canoe races this morning. High surf warning on tap for tomorrow – but I don’t think it will amount to much here in our bay.

The Beached Jet Ski Barge - Landing craft in background.

No action at the beached barge since yesterday noon when our local landing craft tried to jerk the barge back into the ocean.

For every-one’s viewing pleasure – the barge landed right in front of a local webcam. One of our Church of Whats Happening Now congregations meets at that location on Sunday mornings. Maybe they can pray it off the rocks…

No pictures today

We are over the rough sea scene. A big barge broke loose and washed up on the rocks. The biggest local boat – an elderly landing craft tried to get it floating again – but no luck. They will try again next high tide – in the middle of the night.

All the villagers who were not working went down to watch – we saw nothing happen. I am guessing that the audience will be smaller in the middle of the night. But, maybe not. After all, not much happens in Kona.

Still no tickets for the way home. I’m still looking at the Alaska 1st class tickets – but Mr C is not a fan of anything 1st class.

Rough Ocean Today

Surfing in Kailua Bay

You couldn’t call it “Big Surf”, because it was (still is) too choppy for surfing. Just plain old fashioned “High Surf”.

Carlton, who gots not one ounce of good sense went out swimming in the Bay. The man got seasick. Yep. Seasick. Note to self: Do not take him anywhere on a boat, bus, train or car unless he is the driver. Planes (big ones) are usually OK.

Oxycontin Cookies

Killer Cookies

Hawaiians love things in gallon jars. Pickled eggs, vienna sausage, all manner of cracked seed, dried seaweed, and cookies. We got a gallon jar of cookies for Xmas. To die for. A gallon of little cookies. Oxycontin for the mouth.

So, when the word comes down that I have terminal cancer – which family history says in a definite possibility – bring on a case of morphine  and a gallon of School Kine Cookies.

Gray, cold, junk ocean today…

No new pictures today, a couple more from yesterday.

Plain old Kona winter today. Gray sky, cold temperature, junk ocean.

I curled up with a nice warm computer and worked on a “new improved” web site for Carlton’s Palace. Being lazy – I am playing with Google Sites.

All things Palin have been banished again from my world. She slipped back in on Saturday. But, my brain is much happier when I ignore all Palins.

More canoes.

The club's treasured koa canoe.
The everyday fiberglass canoes.

Today is a good day to die

Ocean Burial of Kai O'pua member.

Or rather, today is a good day to be buried at sea. Especially for a member of the Kai O’pua canoe club. The dear departed’s ashes and paddle are carried by the man in seat four. His sons are the paddlers.

A bunch of canoes went along the last voyage. I was just finished my morning swim when the canoes came back. And, I found myself in the middle of the canoes. What to do but to float around on by back and watch them go past.

Today we had chicken, sweet potatoes, and avocado and tomatoes.

I am seriously considering relocating my person to a country that does not have 2nd amendment rights.
