Neither the absence of night nor the presence
of rain stopped the July 4th fireworks which were moved
to July 6th from the traditional (hey, this is Skagway)
July 3rd date.
Okay, boys and girls, once again this is
how you take fireworks pictures with your fully automatic
point and shoot camera. First you need a tripod or something
to set your camera on. (I used a rail.) Next turn off
the flash. Set your autofocus to infinity. And snap away.
You have to push the button the instant before the air
burst appears. So, it is a crap shoot.
You can improve your pictures with a cable
or remote release, but my tiny Canon supports neither.
My camera will fire off a series of 6 shots, this might
have been interesting to try but it was raining and the
camera was in its all-weather housing and that button
was not accessible. So, you go with what you got.
I took 105 pictures over 15 minutes. This
is one of the early ones, before the mountain got covered
with smoke.
