Pu'uhonua O Honaunau National Historical Park

STILL playing with panorama's. This one is from Pu'uhonua O Honaunau National Historical Park. Three things went on at Pu'uhonua O Honaunau. First, it was a Heiau or temple. Second, it was a Pu'uhonua - or Place of Refuge. If you had broken one of the rules - you got your sorry butt to a Pu`uhonua and the priest gave you absolution. Pu`uhonua were located conviently around the island. (But, not too convient, after all you wouldn't want to encourage lawlessness! By the way, there seems to have been only one punishment for violations - death.) Finally, it was a royal compound. As you see, it was good to be king. Or queen.
