We did go out to visit the Navy Ship today. The USS Frederick. A Marine amphibious transporter. It is the sister ship to the USS Cole of Yemen fame. The Cole was recently scuttled, and this ship is scheduled for retirement in October.

Took a peek in the ship's bakery. Noticed that they had a generous supply of well read Gourmet and Bon Appeitif magazines. As well as "Government Food Weekly". Most interesting was the discovery that the ship has a ATM machine. Conveniently located across from the Ships Store.

The crew company is about 275 with 80 of them women. The Chief who was showing us around said the "cutest" thing she had seen lately was in Indonesia. The ship had taken on an Indonesian harbor pilot - and as it would happen every on on the bridge was a "girl". She said the harbor pilot was almost unable to function.

I am happy to report that Carlton did not barf and I was able to get from the Zodiac to the ship and back to the Zodiac. Your tax dollars at work.
