Yesterday was Chinese New Year's and Fat Tuesday. Here in Hawai`i Fat Tuesday is called Malasada Day. In honor of the doughnut type thing that the Portuguese people cook up on the last day before Lent. Actually, Malasada's are cooked up at almost for almost any occasion.

Today everyone seems to be getting ready for Valentine's Day. It is somewhat a more important holiday here than on the mainland. Back in the good old days - where the Japanese came bringing heaps of cash... lots of Japanese came to Hawai`i to get married on Valentine's Day.

Ah, love those Olympic ice skaters. Aren't these the same folks that brought us Tanya Harding? So much for elegant. Bring on the WWF Smackdown.
