"Safe Room" - Washington Post
- 03.mar.03
Getting in a DC state of mind. Was reading the Washington Post
yesterday. Came across an article about Zytech Engineering in Maryland.
They make "safe rooms". Sort of a burial vault for the
living. The phone booth like number in the picture goes for about
$17,000. That will be your basic model. If you want secured ventilation
and chemical filtration systems, cellular phones and flip-down seats,
that will be more. Windows, gun ports and carpeting are also available
options.
Expect to spend $50,000 for a nicely equipped family sized "room".
When not in use, the room can be used for storage. Now, can't you
just see that: the terrorist hit with mustard gas - or the Asian
home invasion gang busts down your door - and you have to haul the
Xmas decorations out of the "safe room" before you can
get your sorry ass in the box. Hello?
