Day 15 of the Moving Adventure.

Finished with my photo collection. It is now good to go. But where. One week from today the house hits the MLS. Open house on July 17 and 18. Then - with luck - we are homeless people.

Went apartment looking this morning. Went to see a Kennedy era building. It is virtually unchanged from period. It has nice big rooms. Big windows. Old parquet floors - just like our house. Good closets. And, I don't think you could ever get high speed internet in the place. The phone lines are too old and the cable is a common whole building thing.

Ok. When we get a contract we'll spring into serious action. We are still in the research phase. As we see the choices:

  1. We rent something somewhere with two bedrooms and move most of our stuff direct from the house to the apartment.
  2. We put two bedrooms worth of stuff in storage and go walkabout.
  3. We rent a small apartment some where with an eye to moving to a larger place - and store the remainder.
  4. We store the barest minimum of stuff and go walkabout.

Carlton doesn't like Plan D too much. I don't think he wants to turn me loose in a furniture store. And frankly - I don't get much of a kick out of buying furniture. So, I agree.

Ideal Apartment - in our area.

  1. Really near Metro - best between Courthouse and Ballston stops.
  2. Two bedrooms or One bedroom and den.
  3. Balcony - be it ever so tiny.
  4. Indoor Parking.
  5. Rent to include all utilities and cable - we just pay for phone. Free high speed internet would be nice.
  6. Within walking distance of grocery and other "stuff".
  7. Not too far from Carlton's friends and tennis etc.
  8. Would like a park or something green really near by.

Well, hey, an old lady can have a wish list - can't she?
