nature conservancy back lot - 27.jun.05

Took some pictures in The Nature Conservancy's back lot yesterday. (It is about 2 blocks from our apartment) The pictures left much to be desired. So, I went back today. Not only did today's pictures turn out better - because I took the camera out of point and shoot mode. But also, I spied a small flock of gold finches.

Things don't seem to be going so very good over in Iraq. Did I hear the SecDef hinting that maybe it will take 12 years to get Iraq sorted out? Twelve years is a long time, it is 84 dog years.

More important point - does anyone think that everything will be peachy-keen in 12 years? As I recall the French were defeat at Dien Bien Phu in 1954 after a 10 year slog. We sent "advisors" to Vietnam in the late 1950's. Two advisors were killed in July 1959. We declared victory and left in April 1975. That would be 25 years.
