Still stuck in the lingering late summer haze.
My network. First I have two computers. One elderly Toshiba and a little Fujitsu. The Toshiba runs XP/SP2 while the Fujitsu runs with XP/SP1. Since I converted the Toshiba to SP2 - it hasn't been real happy talking with the Fujitsu.
I have internal CAT5e wiring in the apartment that has its own switch. And, back in the old house I had a 802.11b wireless network off a wireless router/switch. Verizon sent me a router/modem. (I thought it was just a modem.) The Fujitsu has built in 802.11b capability. And a friend sent an 802.11g wireless card over for the Toshiba.
Yesterday I trying to get everything to play nice together. Then Windows put a little message on my screen saying "Contact the individual who maintains your network" - So, I put myself on hold for 45 minutes and went back to putzing around with the settings and connections.
After much putzing, everything works - but I am not 100% happy with my network "security". So, I plan to "Contact the individual who maintains your network" and tweak that next.
