Winter has returned to exciting downtown Arlington. When I started reading my paper this morning it was 47 degrees. By the time I had finished it was 36 degrees.
Nitroglycerin, also known as nitroglycerine, trinitroglycerin, and glyceryl trinitrate, is a chemical compound. It is a heavy, colorless, poisonous, oily, explosive liquid obtained by nitrating glycerol. It is used in the manufacture of explosives, specifically dynamite, and as such is employed in the construction and demolition industries.
And, it is given to little old ladies in tiny brown bottles for "chest pain". I now have my own tiny brown bottles of nitro. I wonder how many it will take to blow up a bridge!
The nitro is "just to be safe". For twenty years I have had chest pain from time to time. The time between time to time has been getting less. So, I turned myself over to a cardiologist for some tests. "Just to be safe." I don't think he'll find anything wrong. But, "Just to be safe", I'll be having some stress tests, an echo cardiogram, and a cardiac CT scan.
