The latest outrage from the "medical" folks
in El Paso. Mom got out of the hospital about 12 days ago. "Don't
worry Ida - we'll have a fine medicare walker delivered to your
apartment." Dora, the woman who is looking after Mom calls
on Monday and says they haven't got a walker yet. Today I get through
to the kindly doctor's office.
"Oh yes, Ida should have a walker and a bath
chair too. But we ran out of postage. So, we haven't mailed the
order to the supplier." They ran out of stamps? When are you
expecting to get more stamps I calmly inquire? "Well, I don't
know. Why don't you come down and pickup the order? Then you can
get the walker yourself"
I said "OK - Bye". Sometimes that is all
you can do. An old woman with terminal cancer recovering from massive
surgery has been without a walker for 12 days because the doctor's
office ran out of stamps. Bet they would have had stamps to send
her a bill!
(Implemented Plan B - hopefully Mom will have a walker
soon.)
