Ha, today I am not too happy with MicroSquish. My
new Windows XP Pro system grudgingly talks with this Windows 98
machine. This Windows 98 machine talks nicely to the elderly Windows
95 machine and to the new machine. The elderly windows 95 machine
talks to the new Windows XP machine - but the XP machine ignores
the old 95 machine. The Windows 95 machine gets along fine with
the Windows 98 machine.
On the upside. The DVD player works! And I can even
connect it to the TV. And run stereo sound through the TV out to
the stereo amp and speakers.
The little PC Card hard drive works fine. And I got
the new machine partitioned. Was removing some of the software crude
that was loaded on the machine. And started the process of downloading
and very carefully adding the patches, upgrades and fixes to the
operating system. It is sort of like getting a brand new car from
the factory and discovering that it had 15 outstanding recalls.
And we geeks wonder why "they" hate us!
Tomorrow - more of the network connection, and maybe
load some software.
