Still no particular joy with Windows XP and its highly
touted networking "ability".
But, on the plus side - this baby burns CD's heaps
faster than the old one.
Started installing my software and migrating my data
to the new machine.
Got an email yesterday from a guy I worked with 30
odd years ago. A huge Navy communications system that we built was
decommissioned on Friday. Little did any of us think that our software
would last 29 years. The software was older than most of the sailors.
And surely the machines were not as powerful as this laptop.
I am reminded of the first modem that I worked with.
It was hand wired, had its own resident repair guy and was in a
box as big as my double door refrigerator.
