Were on our way by shortly after 8. Got hopelessly lost in Morganton NC.

We arrived in Asheville later than we had hoped. Having gotten lost and taken a "shortcut".

Downtown Asheville is what Roanoke wants to become. It has a very eclectic vibrant city life. If we decide to look into Asheville some more - we will definitely have to spend a bunch of time looking into apartments. There are numerous choices. But they seem to be in 5 and 10 unit offerings. So one would have to watch and wait. Asheville is also more costly than Roanoke. Because it is more trendy.

The Asheville Airport doesn't seem to be as good. It is about 10 miles out of town and seems to have fewer flights. Also, I would have a problem living in a town that has a "Billy Graham Freeway". More thought is required.

We headed off to check out Henderson. After about 2 blocks of Henderson, Carlton said "We aren't going to live here" and we turned east. There is nothing east of Henderson. Just miles of "rural". Finally drove by a respectable motel in Shelby - where according to the local paper the Citizen's Militia is having drills this weekend. Not the sort of place I want to hang around. But, I was hot and tired and the thought of 40 more miles in the car until we got to Charlotte was a non-starter. So here I am - in Shelby - with no local ISP number. But a pool, a nice bed and HBO.

Haven't a clue as to where we will go tomorrow.
