We have rejoined the 21st century. Microwaved oatmeal never tasted so good.
Fortunately 8 houses - inhabited by friendly folks - in our little old neighborhood had power which they generously shared. Extension lines were run to keep sump pumps going. Computers and cell phones were recharged. Freezer space was shared and coffee made.
My freezer was well enough stocked with ice - so I didn't worry about it. But, coffee - that was a whole different story.
Many folks in our area are still without power and/or drinkable water. So, we are blessed. And glad to be back on the gird.
And, we have a new appreciation for how pissed the Iraqi's must be about not having essential services. Given the choice between "democracy" and "electricity". I am not so sure that I would chose "democracy". Patrick Henry, I am not.
