travel day - 20.jul.05
I am now safely ensconced in the Vampire Garret at the Amadeus Hotel. I am rather suspicious - they insist on being paid for the entire 17 nights when you check in. Makes me suspect that (1) there is a much nicer cheaper hotel nearby or (2) lots of guests have slipped out without paying.
Spent most of the day on the trains - but high point of the day was the ATM machine at the Haarlem station. It gave me 300 lovely euros. Promptly started spending it on all manner of stuff. Bus tickets, a town map, food.
After unpacking and stowing my gear and taking a shower, I had a nice dinner in bed. Salad, some really strange hard boiled egg creation, and cherries and lemon tart.
At 9PM the church bell started clanging. It is still clanging some 20 minutes later. I hope nothing is amiss. But, no way I am going back down the stairs again tonite.
