Just a little look around the Vampire Garret. I did finally find a mirror. It is safely hidden behind a door.
It is chilly and rainy today. I fear that might be the standard weather in
these parts. So, I sort of took a day off from tourist things. I might even
wash out my underdrawers. It is chilly enough that I broke out my emergency
long sleeve shirt and wool socks.
I was out wandering around, trying not to get run over by a bicycle. These damn things don't make any noise and they sort of go anywhere they want to. And there are lots of them. Well, I haven't been run over, YET.
Wandered into a rather junky looking department store. I kept riding the escalator up. After about 6 floors I end up in the middle of a cafeteria. A splendid cafeteria. It was also an "English Free" zone. Obviously the Dutch are trying to keep the ratty German, British and American tourists out. I prevailed and managed to round up an excellent salad, a stick of bread and glass of wine. When wine and water cost the same amount - do you think this old lady is going to drink water? Milk was cheaper than either wine or water. Didn't even consider a nice glass of milk.
Doesn't the Dame Blanche sound good? The one word of Dutch that I do know is slagroom - whipped cream. What else do you have to know? No, I didn't get one - but next time...
I will update the website a couple of times a week. The owner of the Hotel will let me plug into his network - so I can up load. But, I'll try to do a page every day.
Well, enough of this - it is 7:05PM or 1905 to the Europeans. Best go outside and see the light. (My window is an air shaft.) That is it from the Vampire Room.
