That fine fortification is on one of the main streets. Boulevard Andre Maginot. I hope they named the street him before the war.
Woke up to a fine sunny morning. Went down and enjoyed breakfast. Had to learn how to operate the coffee machine. It did 't take long. Then I headed out to find where we lived when I was a small kid. I found the visitor center - did' t find anyone who spoke English -- but still managed to locate our street. It is a little shabby - given to Le Sex Shop and video gaming parlors. But since the buildings have been around 500 plus years - a few shabby decades every century or so are to be expected.

Metz is a most satisfactory town. The cathedral is really fine. It lost some of its stained glass window in WWII - so there are some fine new ones to complement the originals.
