Got on my way out of Geneva with no problem. I had an entire 2nd class car to myself. The first class cars were infested with skiers. And all their pointy gear. So, I settled in in splendid 2nd class isolation. The first potentially interesting stop was Grenoble. But, sans snow it looked rather ordinary. And, I am guessing that with snow it would have looked too cold. Next stop Lyon. Got off the train - but the station wasn't in town and it was raining - so I hopped on a train going south. To Montpellier. A college town. And winter vacation stop for the British.
